About GEMS NHS

GEMS NHS covers Out of Hour Care for everyone in Greater Glasgow requiring GP Services Out of Hours.

GEMS NHS provides out of hours medical advice and care for primary care emergencies that cannot wait until patients own practices are open during normal working hours.
GEMS NHS operates a Hub, where calls once they have been assessed by NHS 24, where necessary are passed to GEMS NHS. Callers will, be offered either a face to face consultation with a doctor at one of the 6 Primary Care Emergency Centres we operate around the city, or skilled professional telephone advice, or a home visit, as clinically necessary.

Our Hub is connected directly to all of our PCEC sites, and our home visiting cars, to allow easy transfer of clinical information. The Patient's Practice will receive, first thing the following morning, details of contacts GEMS NHS has had with their patients, which allows their patient's records to be fully updated, and to allow review and monitoring of any current condition.

The majority of Doctors working for GEMS NHS, are full time GP principles working within Glasgow, and are experienced in delivering emergency medical care of a primary care nature.
